This research should get funding!

I came across this article

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/scientists-in-funds-plea-on-life-changing-hi-tech-brain-devices/story-fni0fit3-1226708289248

This is particularly dear to my heart because I suffer from Fibromyalgia. This is a condition that is poorly understood, but the symptoms are:

1. Chronic pain and increased sensitivity to pain

2. Muscular stiffness

3. Fatigue

These symptoms are caused by some kind of malfunction in the brain’s signalling system. This means  I can have a massage today, but the muscular stiffness comes back due to the signals sent from the brain to the muscles.

About transformational1

I have many interests and I have had a varied career. I am a semi-retired professional dog trainer, specialising in the use of positive reinforcement. I do some consultations, I run instructor workshops and I am setting up a Dogs and Psychotherapy Research Project. I have a law degree from Melbourne University (but have never practiced) and I am passionate about Human Rights. My first degree was in Sociology. I worked as a social researcher on issues such as low income housing, women's refuges and women in the workforce. I live in an inner suburb of Melbourne, Australia, and I have a German Shepherd called Chance.

  1. John says:

Hi, Kaye: Thoroughly agree. I interviewed Graeme Clarke some years ago to cover cochlear hearing device, even in those days he could see its potential beyond hearing. Great to see his vision being being carried on beyond hearing problems. I have severely affected grandson who would probably benefit, and know of many more such folk. So, HERE’S TO DECENT FUNDING AND DEVELOPMENT TO KEEP IT IN AUSTRALIA/AUSTRALIAN. Those greedy Yanks shouldn’t be allowed to steal the march without effort or local benefit where due. Hope it’s well protected by unbreakable international patents. Regards, JohnB, 1/9/13
